Who had the best signing day?

Florida Gator Recruiting Insider

After Urban Meyer's resignation, the University of Florida Athletic Department quickly hired Will Muschamp, the defensive coordinator and head coach-in-waiting at the University of Texas.  The Florida Gators have maintained their 2011 recruiting class fairly well.  The headliner of this year's class is Jeff Driskel, a pro-style QB who has a huge arm and impressive mobility.  The defections included Nick Waisome to FSU, Ryan Shazier to OSU, and Chase Hounshell to Notre Dame.

Florida's current class:

This year won't be as memorable as previous previous recruiting cycles for gator fans.  Urban Meyer successfully strung together impressive recruiting classes, including the #1 class in 2010.  I expect the 2012 recruiting cycle to be better than this year because Will Muschamp will be able to create relationships with recruits over a year, rather than in a month.  The Gators are targeting some big names, but I have doubts that they will end on a high note on National Signing Day.

DT Tim Jernigan (Lake City, Fl., Columbia)
I think this is going to end up a close one.  It seems that Jernigan enjoyed his visit to FSU this past weekend, but he grew up a gator fan.  The gators will have one more chance to persuade him when he comes to Gainesville this week for an unofficial visit.
Considering: FSU, UF, LSU
Prediction: UF.
Muschamp has brought in a great defensive staff that is especially focused on the defensive line.  He loves UF and the new coaching staff impressed him when they visited him.

DE Jermauria Rasco (Shreveport, La., Evangel Christian)
His recruitment took a turn when Will Muschamp left Texas and headed for Gainesville.  He will likely decide where he wants to sign after his visit to UF this weekend.
Considering: FSU, LSU, UF
Prediction: LSU.  LSU is close to home for Rasco and he has grown close with the staff and visited many times.

LB Curtis Grant (Richmond, Va., Hermitage)
Grant is taking only four of his five official visits to...Ohio State, Florida, UVA, and UNC (next weekend).  However, Virginia is a longshot.  He has openly stated that Virginia will most likely not be the place where he plays college football. It is still unclear whether the Buckeyes or the Gators have the edge at the moment.
Considering: UF, OSU, UVA, UNC
Prediction: UF

LB Stephone Anthony (Wadesboro, N.C., Anson)
The five-star linebacker from North Carolina used to name his favorites in order. However, now he has a top six and isn't giving any hints.  Anthony likely won't stray far from home in North Carolina.  This is bad for Florida, the team that was his leader a few months ago. Right now, I think Virginia Tech and Clemson are his leaders, with Florida as the darkhorse.  Anthony's friend, Jeoffrey Pagan, recently committed to Clemson, and Anthony could end up following him there.  Anthony will still visit UNC and NC State, so the hometown schools are still very much in it.
Considering: UF, Clemson, Virginia Tech, North Carolina, NC State
Prediction: Clemson

DE Curt Maggitt (West Palm Beach, Fl., Dwyer)
I do not think Maggitt ends up at UF because he will have a better chance to play early at other schools.  Maggitt's recruitment has not been very defined and much is still up in the air.  He could decide to stay close to home, which would be good for UF.
Considering: Alabama, Florida, LSU, Miami, South Florida, Tennessee, Wisconsin
Prediction: Tennessee (He loved his visit last weekend)....However, I believe this is a close race between Florida, Wisconsin, Tennessee and I would not be surprised if he end up playing at these schools.

QB Jacoby Brissett
(West Palm Beach, Fl., Dwyer)

The gators are in the running for Brissett, but there are a lot of teams in the running and he wants to play basketball too.  The Gators will be fine whether they get him or not because they have Jeff Driskel already enrolled at Gainesville.
Considering: UM, FSU, UF, Wisconsin, UNC, Washington, South Carolina
Prediction: Wisconsin
