Basketball Recap - Michael Checking In

Last year, I went to the Staples Center to watch the epic, seven game basketball series between Los Angeles and Boston.  It was a battle all the way until game seven, when Kobe nearly shot his way out of a fifth championship and Ron Artest thought it was necessary to thank his therapist for a win. A lot has changed since then, though.  The NBA season started again and everything was in disarray.  The East had a new look after Lebron announced he was "taking his talents to south beach" and now the term has been synonymous with anybody making a fool of themselves to better their own opportunity.  Bosh also joined up as everyone knows.  They started 9-8 amid a lot of hype but then wrung out 21 of 22 wins to be 30-9.  They skidded a bit more now but things look to be okay.  On another note, the championship defending Lakers seemed to forget how to play basketball for about 10 games during this season.  Their defense was awful and offense only a tiny bit better than that.  They are still battling among the top teams in the west for best record though.  On another note, I was watching ESPN classic the other night and when Kobe put up 81, it was single handedly the best performance i have ever seen.  Okay, back to the main point.  Anyways, the west in total has been dampened except for the Spurs and Mavericks, the former on pace to top the Bulls record setting 72 win season, and the latter looking bright early in the season.  Dont even get me started on the Nuggets, with all that stupid 'melo-drama.'  Look at his numbers, its not like he even is putting up what people are saying he's worth.  To go to the east is another story, sub 500 teams are battling out for the playoff 8 seed early as usual, which is really bad for the league.  No team that cant win half of its games should go to the playoffs, in any sport, ever.  The celtics look the same as they always do, they will get to to the Eastern finals and lose, though.  The magic shook up their team and it looks to have paid off with making a little run in the standings.  The Heat have become somewhat predictable when watching them, they take off every other play and play casual defense because they rely on their "talents" to win games, which i guess has worked pretty well so far.  Derrick Rose has been just incredible.  Even with all this, my favorite team is still the Clippers, and by team I mean Blake Griffin, who is slowly becoming my favorite player in the NBA.
